About the Role

Overview

This is a high-impact field operations role supporting the Microsoft Retail In-Store Presence and Training Team across the southern states. As Field Operations Manager, you will lead the administration, governance, and optimisation of the field team to deliver strong in-store execution, effective training, and consistent performance against Microsoft KPIs across nominated retail accounts.

You will act as the operational backbone of field execution, connecting management, regional stakeholders, retail partners, Microsoft, Retail Safari, and the field team to turn strategy into results at store level. This role suits someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented, naturally curious, and confident navigating complex environments, with a practical, hands-on approach to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Field Leadership & Performance

  • Lead, coach, and develop a large field team to deliver consistent performance and results
  • Conduct regular field visits, coaching sessions, and performance reviews
  • Drive productivity, presentation standards, and team engagement in the field
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management for field staff

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong working relationships with Microsoft stakeholders, store managers, Retail Sales Professionals, and regional retail leaders
  • Represent the program in client meetings, calls, and conferences as required
  • Support the Program Manager with audits, insights, and continuous improvement recommendations
  • Ensure client communications align with agreed account plans and KPI expectations

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee territory planning, call scheduling, and cost-effective travel
  • Maintain full compliance across payroll, expenses, reporting, and field systems
  • Monitor competitor activity and market intelligence, and report insights to support decision-making

Training, Capability & Culture

  • Deliver product and campaign training to build team capability and confidence
  • Identify field best practice and share insights nationally
  • Foster high engagement, capability growth, and a strong performance culture aligned with Retail Safari values

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience managing large field teams and delivering strong performance outcomes
  • Proven experience in sales, merchandising, demonstrations, auditing, or field operations
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and people development capability
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer literacy across Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel

Desirable

  • Experience working on Microsoft or technology retail programs
  • Train-the-Trainer qualification
  • Understanding of agency or outsourced field marketing models
